Taxi costs
Taxi Costs in Tangier: How to Plan Your Fare
Understand metered and agreed fares, compare like-for-like quotes, and avoid payment surprises before your next Tangier trip.
The short answer: there is no single taxi price for every Tangier journey. Confirm whether your trip uses a meter or an agreed fare, what the total includes, and how you can pay before you set off. This guide does not publish an unverified tariff or a live RideHub quote.
A short trip across town and a transfer with several bags are different requests. Comparing the headline price alone can hide those differences. A better starting point is to describe the same journey to each provider, then ask what you will actually pay.
Metered fare or agreed price?
Ask which pricing method applies to your trip. If it is a metered journey, confirm that the meter will be used. If you are offered a fixed price, agree the total before departure and check that both sides understand the destination.
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office’s Morocco guidance recommends agreeing a fare in advance or checking that the taxi uses a meter. It also cautions that some vehicles arranged through ride-sharing apps may not be licensed or insured for passenger transport. A low price is not a substitute for checking the operator and vehicle.
The Moroccan National Tourism Office identifies blue taxis with Tangier. Colour can help you recognise a local taxi, but it does not replace checking its identification or confirming the terms of your ride.
What should a quote cover?
Give the provider your exact pickup, destination, date, passenger count, and luggage requirements. Then ask about the details that might change the quote.
| Your journey | Confirm before departure |
|---|---|
| A city trip | Meter or fixed price, the exact destination, and the payment method |
| Airport or station pickup | Meeting point, arrival time, luggage space, and any waiting arrangements |
| A trip with extra stops | The full route and whether the quoted total includes every stop |
| Travel between cities | One-way or return travel, pickup time, waiting, and the full quoted total |
These are questions to ask, not a claim that a particular supplement always applies. Current local rules and the provider’s confirmed terms take precedence.
Compare the full journey, not just the vehicle name
RideHub’s vehicle comparison describes Classic, Premium, and local taxi options. Start with the passenger capacity and comfort you need. Tell the team about large bags, a child seat, or accessibility requirements before assuming a vehicle will be suitable.
When comparing offers, use the same pickup and destination, departure time, and number of passengers. A quote for a different meeting point or a trip without waiting is not a like-for-like comparison.
Avoid treating an old blog price, an example fare in an illustration, or someone else’s past journey as today’s guaranteed price.
Can you pay by card?
Ask explicitly before accepting the ride. Confirm that card payment is available for your specific vehicle, whether your card type is accepted, and whether there are any payment-related charges.
Do not assume that every street taxi or driver can accept a card. If you agree to pay cash, confirm the currency and arrange suitable Moroccan dirham notes. Never send card numbers, PINs, or verification codes in a trip enquiry.

A simple fare-enquiry checklist
- Share the exact pickup and drop-off, including a landmark if the address is hard to find.
- State the departure date and time, passenger count, and luggage needs.
- Ask whether the trip uses a meter or a fixed price.
- Confirm any waiting, stops, or return journey in the total.
- Confirm card or cash payment before travelling.
- Keep the agreed details available when you meet the driver.
Questions riders ask
Does RideHub show an instant taxi price?
Not on this website. The trip planner prepares an email enquiry for you to review and send. The team must confirm a fare, vehicle availability, and any requested arrangements. Preparing the email is not a confirmed booking.
Is the lowest quote always the best choice?
Not necessarily. Check passenger capacity, luggage, meeting arrangements, and the provider’s licensing and insurance as well as the price. Clear terms are more useful than a cheap offer that leaves important details unanswered.
Can I request a driver who speaks my language?
Yes, you can include your preferred language in the enquiry. Availability must be confirmed; the request alone does not guarantee a language match.

Prepare an enquiry. Fare, availability, and preferences still need confirmation.
